The base salary will be $66,350 - $78,080 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.
Please note, this is a wholly grant funded 1-year temporary full-time contract opportunity. This role is based in Montreal and is required to support research activities and communities in that geographic area.

The purpose of the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women and Children is to promote the development of community-centered action research on the prevention of violence against women and children. The Centre facilitates individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities related to the understanding and prevention of abuse.
##Responsibilities
The Research & Knowledge Mobilization Specialist (Bilingual) will conduct literature reviews and evaluate primary research to identify and determine the information that should be integrated and shared as prevailing research related to gender-based violence across the lifespan in both French and English. The role will author knowledge mobilization and dissemination materials directly, and in collaboration with community partners and the Centre’s communications professionals, to profile and promote relevant information and research in the field. The Specialist will research topics and themes related to violence against women and children and manage the development and maintenance of relationships and partnerships with stakeholders across the province and the country. The role will conduct site visits as needed with a group of French and English-speaking Community of Practice (CoP) members and project leads to establish relationships, identify themes, issues and challenges that can be shared with the larger research group. The role will apply their expertise and knowledge to research projects under the direction of the Project Lead, and will have responsibility for training staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students related to research and knowledge mobilization activities. The Specialist will also undertake related activities that support the Centre’s research, knowledge mobilization, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination functions in alignment with the objectives of the Centre and its initiatives.
##Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work or related field
- Preferred:
- PhD in a relevant discipline
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in the folllowing:
- Experience in a related academic research environment
- Experience in a research role requiring French and English competency
- Experience in a related field
- Experience conducting knowledge mobilization or communications activities
- Experience developing knowledge products such as infographics, toolkits, newsletters, factsheets and report summaries
- Preferred:
- Experience supporting research and knowledge mobilization projects related to violence against women and children
- Experience in providing direct service in a gender-based violence service
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be fully bilingual (English/French) to coordinate projects offered in French
- Strong knowledge of established and emerging methods of Knowledge Mobilization, with documented success in open data and publication platforms for broad uptake and reach
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research in an academic environment
- Familiarity with techniques for assessing and managing data
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to provide guidance, support and feedback in a way that is positively received
- Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to interpret and identify key results from research and to succinctly summarize research findings
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve project and Centre goals
- Advanced skills in software and applications used to analyze research outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems
