We are a building supply and project centre providing project contractors and do-it yourself builders with tools, materials, design, and construction services to support projects of any scale.
Matix Lumber services all sectors of the building industry and offer a comprehensive selection of quality lumber and building materials manufactured by North America’s leading producers. This role will support the department with the responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
- Collecting and analyzing relevant operational data to determine and establish standard costs
- Identifying the financial status of projects by comparing and analyzing plans, forecasts and variances with actual results
- Assisting Project Managers with tracking and reporting for each individual project (including contract amounts, work orders, change orders, etc.)
- Establishing a sustainable system of controls to ensure consistency, transparency and accountability for all related financial reporting
- Assisting in developing procedures to evaluate projects relative to scheduling, costs, client relationships, quality, and on-time delivery
- Preparing construction budget tracking reports to assist with managing objectives, goals and performance to date
- Interacting with and providing support to the Project Managers by leading the estimating team and budgeting costs for each project
- Working with the Accounting Department to ensure funding is in place so that vendors are paid in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- College or University Degree preferred (or an acceptable combination of education and relevant experience)
- 3-5 years of direct experience in a construction-based environment
- Ability to analyze issues quickly and to determine the best course of action using available resources for a wide range of construction-based applications (both City- and Community-based)
- Demonstrated ability to use sound judgement and provide suggested direction(s) as a key liaison to the SMT
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training
- Proficient with MS Office
- Strong customer service mindset
- Team player with the ability to work under pressure in a rapidly changing workplace
- Excellent written, oral and listening communication skills
- Exceptional multi-tasking abilities and prioritization skills
