The attendant is an integral member of the health care team, supporting Adults and Stollery in a family centered care within a busy tertiary Emergency.
Description
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.
Classification: Service Worker I Union: AUPE GSS Unit and Program: Emergency Primary Location: U of A Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.80 Posting End Date: 20-JUL-2026 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 31-AUG-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 12 Shifts per cycle: 48 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $22.33 Maximum Salary: $24.38 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable
Required Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications
Current Basic Life Support (BLS - Heart and Stroke AED Level C REQUIRED) - Healthcare Provider Registration (must attach certificate). One year experience as a porter/attendant required. English language comprehension, both oral and written is required. Ability to meet the physical demands associated with the job (i.e. pushing stretchers, carts, and wheelchairs, bending and reaching) is required. Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Self-motivated individual able to prioritize and organize workload in a busy patient care environment.
