Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for equipment used in all areas of the shop and field.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, heavy haul truck & trailer units, and other construction machinery. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential problems before they escalate. Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and other components of heavy equipment. Replace faulty or worn-out parts and components using appropriate tools and techniques. Follow manufacturer specifications, repair manuals, and technical guidelines during repairs and maintenance activities. Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours. Collaborate with supervisors and equipment operators to identify equipment issues and provide guidance on preventive maintenance practices. Stay updated on the latest advancements in heavy equipment technology and repair techniques. Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors. 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOREducation: High school diploma or equivalent Required Training/Certifications: Level 3 or 4 Apprentice or Journeyperson certification as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic. Required Work Experience: Proven experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and machinery. Additional Requirements:

In-depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other heavy equipment components. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and equipment operators. Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting and working in various weather conditions. Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests
