We are seeking a Director, IT to lead and grow our Calgary Technology Practice. This is a 360-desk leadership role for an entrepreneurial professional who thrives on business development, client delivery, and mentorship. You will have the opportunity to build a high-performing team, expand market presence, and contribute directly to RPI’s long-term strategic growth.

The Opportunity

As Director, IT, you will be responsible for driving business expansion while managing end-to-end recruitment engagements across the full technology spectrum — from infrastructure and cybersecurity to cloud, ERP, and digital transformation. You will serve as both a trusted advisor to clients and a mentor to consultants, shaping the Calgary division into a recognized market leader for technology recruitment in Western Canada.

Key Accountabilities

Business Development & Client Management

  • Proactively develop and expand client relationships through targeted networking, referrals, and strategic outreach across multiple sectors.
  • Lead client discovery sessions to identify hiring needs, assess business objectives, and define recruitment strategies aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Create and execute growth plans for the Calgary IT division, including target markets, service offerings, and partnership development.
  • Build deep partnerships with executives and hiring managers to position RPI as a trusted search advisor in technology recruitment.
  • Leverage existing RPI relationships across other divisions to deliver integrated recruitment solutions (finance, operations, HR, executive).

Recruitment Delivery

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from intake and sourcing through offer negotiation and onboarding.
  • Employ data-driven search methodologies to identify top passive and active IT talent.
  • Conduct comprehensive candidate evaluations, including technical competency, leadership ability, and cultural alignment.
  • Maintain high service standards by delivering timely updates, detailed market feedback, and transparent communication to clients and candidates.
  • Execute searches across mid-management, senior technical, and executive-level positions within IT.

Team & Practice Leadership

  • Provide mentorship and hands-on leadership to consultants within the division; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead internal training and skill development initiatives to strengthen sourcing, business development, and client management capabilities.
  • Collaborate with RPI partners on strategic planning, revenue forecasting, and talent acquisition strategy for the broader organization.
  • Ensure brand consistency, quality of service, and adherence to ethical recruitment standards across all engagements.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for individual and division-wide success.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives, ensuring efficient use of technology tools (ATS, CRM, and analytics platforms).
  • Deliver accurate reporting and pipeline forecasts to leadership.
  • Manage confidential searches with discretion and maintain compliance with privacy and employment standards.

Your Strengths Include

  • 5+ years in a 360 or leadership role specializing in technology, with a deep understanding of IT markets, roles, and salary structures.
  • A self-starter who thrives in building new business lines, developing strategy, and scaling results in a competitive market.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, negotiation, and client retention at the senior management or executive level.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure, software development, data analytics, cybersecurity, cloud, ERP, and emerging technologies; able to converse credibly with technical professionals and leaders.
  • Experience leading or mentoring recruiters, fostering accountability, and elevating team performance through coaching and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret market data, assess client pain points, and design tailored recruitment strategies that deliver results.
  • Skilled at managing confidential, high-stakes searches with discretion, tact, and sound judgment.
  • Consistently meets or exceeds performance targets, managing multiple priorities with precision and urgency.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; values trust, transparency, and long-term partnerships.
