Job Description Irving Tissue is currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our team in Saint John, NB. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving operational excellence and innovation at our facility. As a Senior Process Engineer, you will set the benchmark for process engineering best practices. You’ll lead cross-functional improvement initiatives, support operations in resolving process, quality, and environmental challenges, and mentor junior engineers. Your ability to think creatively, act proactively, and collaborate effectively will be essential to your success.
Responsibilities
- Process Optimization & Improvement- Lead and execute process improvement initiatives across the site, using statistical tools and data analysis to enhance productivity, product quality, environmental performance, and cost efficiency. Conduct production trials and support product development efforts.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting- Provide expert technical support to the Operations team. Troubleshoot complex process and contribute to the resolution of manufacturing challenges.
- Equipment & Project Support- Collaborate on equipment design, maintenance planning, and performance validation. Support installation and start-up of new equipment and ensure alignment with process requirements.
- Team Development & Collaboration- Mentor associate process engineers in project management, problem-solving, and continuous improvement methodologies. Develop standard operating procedures, training materials, trial plans and summaries
- Safety & Continuous Improvement- Champion a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in process engineering within a manufacturing environment; experience in the Pulp and Paper industry is an asset
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
- Technical Skills: Proficient in process capability studies, project management, and change management
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills with a collaborative, proactive approach
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement
