We are hiring an On-Premise Sales Representative for The Small Winemakers Collection. This important role will be based in Downtown Toronto. This person will work with a variety of restaurants selling our diverse import wine portfolio. We are looking for someone who can capitalize on the opportunity for uncapped earning potential in Canada’s top wine selling territory. This role is a path into fine wine hospitality’s inner circle with sommeliers, bar managers and restaurant groups. It involves exclusive tastings, dinners and international winery trips.

The Small Winemakers Collection is a leading wine agency specializing in premium wine imports and world class service. We're seeking an ambitious, internally driven, wine savvy sales representative to join our Ontario team.

What The Teammate Will Be Responsible For -

  • Using an established track record of performance within the On-Premise market selling to all levels of licensee accounts across a set territory.
  • Manage and build a portfolio of new and current licensees in the downtown Toronto core, with emphasis geared toward revenue & margin while building long term partnerships/loyal relationships.
  • 100% On premise dedicated role. Focus on international suppliers via consignment and high-volume consignment with the opportunity to supplement with direct delivery VQA.
  • Top territory in Ontario/Canada - allows for uncapped commission structure

Financial Focus

  • Grow the business efficiently, profitably and rationally.
  • Maintain or increase sales in existing accounts, grow sales in underperforming accounts and prospect for new accounts.
  • Responsible for the collection of accounts receivable.

Customer Focused Activities

  • Become your customer’s most valued supplier.
  • Provide a broad selection of wines, selling a balanced selection of core and niche products.
  • Provide well-informed, professional, responsive and innovative service.
  • Sampling and educating buyers and staff.
  • Compiling client-targeted product sheets.
  • Assisting clients with wine dinners.
  • Introducing visiting suppliers to clients and prospects.
  • Assisting in trade events.
  • Delivering to clients when necessary.

Internally Focused Activities

  • Participate in regular meetings wherein individual and corporate performance is reviewed.
  • Focus on individual efforts according to individual and corporate targets.
  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual schedules and sales plans.
  • Follows safe work procedures and practices and reports all unsafe working conditions to their reporting manager.

Innovation and Growth

  • Work on continuous growth and improvement.
  • Upgrade general wine knowledge.
  • Upgrade specific knowledge of our suppliers and products.
  • Attend trade events.
  • Look for new ways to market our wines.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to: Director of Licensee Sales
  • Direct Reports: None

Work environment -

  • Requires some flexibility outside normal business hours.
  • You must be physically able to carry cases of wine, climb stairs, stand/walk for hours at a time.
  • Ability to see, smell and taste wine and use their senses on the job for learning, teaching and sales purposes.
  • Ability to handle alcohol responsibly is mandatory.
  • Ability to respond to and manage stress and pressure effectively; dealing with successes and failures as they relate to sales function on a regular basis.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Home office work environment; including smart telephone, computer, printer and internet connectivity to enable working from home part of the time. Communicating with clients via telephone, email and text with the office and with clients during non-traditional hours is required.

Compensation

  • Compensation for this role is commission based, with a transitional baseline of existing customers already in place. Uncapped earning potential.
  • Role also includes targets for quarterly bonus incentives over and above commission structure – once certain thresholds are achieved.

The teammate will be -

  • Results oriented, self-motivated, driven and disciplined
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills and a strategic mindset with an advanced problem-solving ability
  • Strong track record of selling into and exceeding targets in On-Premise within Ontario
  • Experience in Toronto market or existing customer base also an asset
  • Technical savvy to handle Microsoft word/excel/PowerPoint and consumer facing tools to track and report customer development
  • Must live in Toronto or GTA region
  • University degree or College Diploma, or equivalent experience
  • WSET Diploma or Sommelier Certification an asset
  • Smart Serve Certification required
