About the role

Job Title: Manager, Real Estate & Leasing

Reports to: Senior Director, Real Estate & Leasing

The Manager, Real Estate & Leasing will be responsible for site selection and leasing functions, which may include reviewing lease transactions and agreements and overseeing completion of all necessary paperwork, ensuring that our genuine MBI Brands hospitality reflects in the process.

Essential functions

Duties

  • Review potential new locations within the assigned territory for MBI Brands’ new store development.
  • Present leasing recommendations with supporting data to all required stakeholders.
  • Negotiate Offer to Lease with Landlord’s through brokers or directly until completed and binding.
  • Review and update our real estate trackers to ensure accuracy.
  • Review demographic and monitor trends for competition in the marketplace.
  • Review leasing documentation ensuring quality, accuracy, coherence and strength of language.
  • Follow up on lease documentation with brokers, landlord, franchisees.
  • Communicate cross-functionally within corporate platform (Franchising, Operations, and Legal) to achieve leasing objectives.
  • Establish and develop business relationships in specific market areas with landlords, local commercial brokerages and property managers in order to achieve/exceed leasing objectives.
  • Assemble site brochures and demographic packages for Franchisees.
  • Provide support to Franchisees and Legal Department with assignments, subleases and renewals, where required
  • Attend real estate functions and conferences, where applicable.

  • Follows all policy and does not engage in any actions that may be perceived as conflicting with company policy regarding bullying, harassment, discrimination, and/or violence.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of previous experience in commercial leasing/ property management.
  • Previous experience in the franchising business model/ industry is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel, Outlook, Word, Adobe Professional Suite, Power Point.
  • A valid provincial drivers’ licence.
  • Ability to travel across Canada as per business needs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team and able to communicate effectively.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills,
