The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled actuarial professional to join the Economic Capital team as an Actuarial Team Lead – Capital Use. This role focuses on providing technical expertise, thought leadership, and deep analytical insights to enhance our industry‑leading Economic Capital Internal Model and to expand the embedded use of the model across the organization.
You will work directly with our stochastic Internal Model (Monte Carlo simulation–based), which offers a comprehensive view of risks across Aviva Canada’s business. The role provides broad exposure across Reserving, ALM, Finance, Reinsurance, Pricing, and Group teams in Canada and the UK—ideal for someone who wants to deepen their understanding of quantitative risk management and strengthen the internal application of capital insights across the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Provide expert technical support for the Internal Economic Capital Model, including methodology, parameterization, validation, and analysis.
- Support the development of internal capital metrics used for planning, performance management, strategic decisions, and risk optimization.
- Analyze actuarial and financial data to support internal capital modelling and capital allocation.
- Lead enhancements to existing modelling processes, tools, and documentation to improve efficiency, transparency, and governance.
- Provide support on the Financial Condition Testing (FCT).
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative field e.g. Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics/Econometrics, Data Analytics, Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 CAS exams and extensive experience in economic capital modeling and use
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both actuarial and non‑technical audiences.
- Strong quantitative analysis, problem solving and programming skills (VBA, SAS, Python/R).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.

- ACAS/ACIA designation.
What you’ll get:
- The salary band for this position ranges from $105,000 to $134,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
