The Cemetery Services team is seeking Temporary Full Time Labourers to support operations across the City's three municipal cemeteries. This role involves a variety of general grounds and landscape maintenance tasks, as well as assisting with interment activities. Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and requires physical strength, stamina, attention to detail, and professionalism when working in sensitive situations.
##Responsibilities
As a Labourer Cemetery Services, you will work as part of a team to provide general maintenance and operational support in a cemetery setting. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to perform heavy manual work in all weather conditions, and strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly when working in sensitive situations.
- Performing general landscape and grounds maintenance, including mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, and watering
- Assisting with interment services, including grave preparation, burials, and marker installation
- Operating hand and power tools and small equipment safely and effectively
- Maintaining tools and equipment in a clean and safe condition
- Demonstrating safe work practices and complying with applicable safety regulations
- Providing courteous and respectful service when interacting with the public
- Performing other related duties as required
##Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12. Some relevant experience and training in manual or outdoor labourer
- Have a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with a safe driving record.
- Ability to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Related education or parks, horticulture, or maintenance experience is considered an asset
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and small equipment is preferred
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, including the ability to work tactfully in sensitive situations

Pay Grade: Schedule D
Hourly Rate: $29.89 (2024 rate)
##Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
