About This Opportunity CBI Health is looking for a skilled and compassionate Rehabilitation Driving Instructor to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will work with individuals who have undergone a medical injury or have received a medical diagnosis which has impacted their ability to safely drive. Through on road assessment and training, you will play a pivotal role in helping clients regain their independence, confidence and the skills required to return to driving.
Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
- Complete on-road assessments with the Occupational Therapist for clients with a variety of diagnoses
- Adapt instruction to meet the unique physical, cognitive and psychological needs of each client
- Provide recommendations to the Occupational Therapist regarding a client’s ability to safely drive
- Complete on-road treatment sessions with clients with a variety of diagnoses
- Regular communication with administrative team
- Maintain up-to-date, detailed progress notes and communicating assessment findings and progress to the Occupational Therapist on a regular basis
- Provide education and instructions regarding use of adaptive equipment during treatment sessions, if applicable
- Ensure vehicle and adaptive equipment are safely maintained and operated
What You Need To Be Successful
- Licensed Driving Instructor (valid and in good standing)
- Three years of experience as a driving instructor
- Experience working with individuals with medical conditions impacting their driving ability
- MTO approved would be an asset
- Strong knowledge of adaptive driving equipment and vehicle modifications
- Member of ADED would be an asset
