Serving as a member of the Facilities Services team, the Coordinator of Custodial Services provides positive leadership and direction to a group of unionized, permanent, and casual caretakers and cleaners in the management and delivery of outstanding custodial services to Niagara Catholic’s portfolio of facilities .

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

  • Implement and monitor custodial work schedules, and ensures backfilling of absences
  • Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of job performance
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required; including rotating afternoon shifts
  • Able to work on a rotating 24/7 emergency on-call schedule (approximately 7 days bi-monthly), compensated accordingly
  • Follow-up and resolve complaints or queries from customers or custodial team.
  • Engage and maintain rapport with the custodial team
  • Engage with school Principals, with a goal to assess and improve customer service and delivery
  • Submit work orders and coordinate with Maintenance to ensure schools are well maintained at all times
  • Act as front line quality assurance on operational contracts including snow removal and grounds maintenance
  • Responsible for compliance with all health & safety regulations including WHMIS, and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Coordinate professional development for the custodial team
  • Assist in preparing tenders/quotations for custodial related activities
  • Ensure adequate coverage of Area Supervision during absences
  • Manage Risk with assigned departmental responsibilities
  • Research and evaluate new work methods, products and equipment in order to enhance service delivery quality and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA) standards for cleanliness in educational facilities
  • Analyze, measure and report on key performance indicators, to preserve outstanding customer service

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Degree/Diploma from a recognized College/University in a related field
  • Membership in IFMA (International Facilities Management Association) and Facilities Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facilities Management (CFM) designation preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory/management experience in facilities management.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be team oriented with a collaborative leadership style
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service oriented
  • General knowledge of building maintenance with an emphasis on cleaning
  • Experience working effectively in a unionized environment
  • Experience with eBase Computerized Maintenance Management System or similar
  • Valid Driver’s License (Class G)

This is a permanent full time position.

SALARY: $ 74,336.22-$82,595.77 per annum (based upon 35 hours per week)
