Production Supervisor - Afternoon Shift

About The Role In this role, you will work in a flexible manufacturing environment within a unionized setting, represented by an independent union. Your primary responsibility will involve working within a supervisory team to oversee and coordinate the production activities of machine operators, assemblers, and fabricators. You will ensure that all materials and work performed adhere to our organization’s standards and comply with safety regulations and guidelines. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the manufacturing environment. You will lead by example, promoting a cooperative atmosphere where all team members are empowered to contribute their expertise and insights.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, essential for effective coordination within a diverse team, and demonstrate strong people management abilities to excel in this position. Additionally, they should be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision in a high variety environment and adept at prioritizing and problem solving workload efficiently and effectively. A comprehensive understanding of the OHSA, JHSC 1 & 2, and the Employment Standards Act, 2000, coupled with experience in a union environment and familiarity with ISO 9000, would be valuable assets for this role.
Responsibilities
- Ensure product quality and adhere to responsibilities as per Keeprite QMS and ISO9001.
- Work with Engineering and Quality through the QMS process to continuously improve the process.
- Work with other Supervisors to resolve issues and enable production to be met in a timely manner.
- Work with the lead hands and/or directly with hourly personnel in order to meet production schedule and customer requirements.
- Strive to maintain a positive, healthy working environment by addressing issues appropriately as they arise and de-escalating situations when required.
- Adhere to and ensure positive enforcement of company policies, practices and procedures as they relate to safety, quality and productivity.
- Notify key parties of any incidents, where necessary, and complete appropriate paperwork, as required, in a timely manner.
- Complete special projects/assignments as required.
- Know and understand the C.B.A. and work within it.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the OHSA and the ESA.
- Strive to improve productivity and efficiency throughout production.
- Complete labour reporting documents as required.
- Ensure that confidentiality is maintained where appropriate.
- Responsible for safe guard of company assets, property, machines and equipment.
- Assist in employee training and development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/ Skills And Attributes

Post-secondary education, preferably in engineering or HVAC, or equivalent work experience in a related field

10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
-
Proven track record in custom manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of varied/ tailored production processes
-
2+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience preferred or demonstrated experience in supervising and motivating teams to achieve and succeed in their goals
-
Ability to work within a supervisory team, taking direction and delegating, setting expectations, and monitoring the progress of production staff
-
Strong people management abilities, including the capacity to motivate and lead teams
-
Proven understanding and execution of Lean Manufacturing an asset

Possess knowledge and experience in labour relations
-
Proficiency with computers and related programs & software such as Microsoft Office Suite
-
Experience with MRP software
-
Effective communication skills (verbal and written in English)

This position has the following core physical requirements:

Frequent walking and standing as well as stair climbing
-
Lifting over 20 lbs. as required
Location: 159 Roy Blvd, Brantford, ON, N3R 7K1 (On-site, 4 days a week)
Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday, 4:00 pm – 2:30 am straight shifts
(Subject to change dependent upon business needs with appropriate notice)
