What you’ll be doing
The Compliance and EAML Examinations Program (CEEP) is a global examinations team, that carries out Regulatory Compliance and ML/TF & Sanctions Examinations of LOBs and functional groups. The role operates under the Global Methodology, Programs and Strategy (GMPS) Team. GMPS is responsible for supporting the EAML and Compliance Examination teams through the development, implementation, maintenance and governance of the examination program, tools/templates, annual examination schedule, training and management reporting.
The Senior Manager, Deficiency Validation Center of Competency (DVCC) is responsible for leading the validation and remediation of complex regulatory compliance and EAML deficiencies across CEEP Examination Portfolios. This role oversees the day-to-day execution of CEEP’s deficiency validation processes, that deficiencies identified by CEEP are remediated effectively, thereby strengthening CIBC’s regulatory compliance and EAML control environment. Through rigorous review of management’s remediation activities, DVCC validates that compliance with regulatory requirements and CIBC policies are restored and sustained. As the Senior Manager, you will collaborate closely with business units to ensure that remediation action plans are robust and sustainable. Acting as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, CEEP Senior Leadership, and Directors, the Senior Manager provides insights and recommendations to strengthen controls and mitigate risks. Additionally, the Senior Manager supports junior team members, to ensure deficiencies are effectively remediated. In a delegated capacity, the Senior Manager assists the Director, Deficiency Validation, in key aspects of the team’s operational activities, promoting a culture of excellence, integrity, and compliance.

How you’ll succeed
- Technical Expertise: In-dept knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, procedures and operational processes. Additionally, you have demonstrated strong understanding of risk management and controls – design adequacy and operating effectiveness assessment, root cause analysis (5-why’s), evaluation of control sustainability, risk exposure evaluation – impact and likelihood assessment.
- People and assignment leadership: You will provide guidance and mentorship to team members, contributing to their professional growth and supporting skill development. You will demonstrate leadership during individual and team assignments by facilitating collaboration, sharing expertise, and encouraging high performance.
- Effectiveness and Execution: Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute remediation validation activities and effectively manage multiple activities at different stages to ensure completion within required timelines. You will communicate regularly on progress and issues to ensure timely exaction of teams deliverables and at a high level of quality and compliance with CEEP methodology and procedures.
- Reporting: Contribute to the development of deficiency remediation closure memos where you objectively assess the adequacy of management remediation activities and their potential impact on the business and to the CIBC Group of Companies while presenting them in a clear, concise and professional way.
- Innovation: Contribute to the strategic vision to drive innovation and process enhancements pertaining to CEEP Deficiency Validation Center of Competency.
- Stakeholder Management: Provide trusted and proactive advice to business partners as they progress through their remediation activities. You will partner closely with business partners, CEEP personnel (including CEEP SLT), HoC and AML Advisory to ensure optimized progress on CEEP deficiency remediation and validation activities.
- Change Management: Effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders to deliver training workshops and changes to performance monitoring.
