Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Advanced Test Engineer to join our Avionics team in Mississauga. In this critical role, you will design, develop, and implement advanced testing solutions to ensure the reliability and performance of avionics systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, optimize testing processes, and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans for complex avionics systems, ensuring full functional coverage.
- Develop and enhance automated test frameworks to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Analyze test data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to improve product quality.
- Lead root cause analysis for test failures and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to define testing requirements and align with project objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Support CI initiatives by integrating automated testing into development pipelines.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for test engineering.
- Manage test equipment lifecycle, from design and validation to maintenance and upgrades.
Test System Leadership
- Ensure complete test system integrity and functionality, rapidly responding to equipment failures
- Lead critical test processes including TRR, V&V, MSA, Uncertainty Analysis, and FAI
- Spearhead upgrades for test systems, hardware, software, and test stands
Technical Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and implement ATP, TRD, SRS, and Test System ECN documentation
- Ensure MOC compliance for all test system or methodology changes
- Define comprehensive test specifications and requirements (TRD)
Problem Resolution & Quality Assurance
- Conduct thorough test software fault investigations and develop solutions
- Lead test failure investigations using RCA, 8D, and ECAT methodologies
- Manage equipment calibration programs including OTR disposition and repairs
Data & Process Management
- Oversee test data analysis, reporting, and management systems
- Drive standardization of avionics repair and test procedures across sites
- Support Corrective Action Request (CAR) processes to prevent defects
Additional Core Duties
- Develop innovative solutions to reduce test time and expand repair capabilities
- Collaborate with global teams on value engineering projects
- Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers
- Support material reuse initiatives and repair process improvements
Qualifications Must haves:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in test engineering, with a focus on avionics or high reliability systems.
- 5+ years experience in programming languages (Python, C++) and automated testing tools (Selenium, LabVIEW).
- 2+ years experience with Agile methodologies, and configuration management.
- 2+ years experience with performance, security, or load testing is an asset.
