The Opportunity:

As the Specialist, CAS Technology, reporting to the Supervisor, CAS Technology, you will support the implementation of Horizon’s Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and related surface mining communications technologies. Your proven skills in applying leading edge technologies to complex and high value operations will ensure your success as you work with other professionals to maximize operating efficiencies and production safety. You will be involved with the evaluation, development, execution, and support of CAS and fleet management communication technologies through collaboration with Canadian Natural Mine Operations, Mine Maintenance, and Mine Technical Services groups.

- Shift schedule: 8 x 6

Key Accountabilities:
- Support Dispatch and Mine Operations for CAS and production fleet event monitoring; aid in training efforts for operators learning to use these technologies
- Coordinate new and temporary CAS kit installations and be responsible for inventory management for communications hardware kits
- Use management of change processes; build and maintain procedures with Operations for CAS and establish and track KPIs
- Participate in incident investigation and reporting utilizing CAS
- Troubleshoot and repair communications systems including Dispatch, cellular and hardware installations
- Support mine fleet and CAS communications through network monitoring, relocation of mobile communication towers, and infrastructure project support
- Provide other technology support duties as required
What You Bring to the Role:
- All levels of experience will be considered, with preference to be given to those candidates with demonstrated knowledge of surface mining operations, mine technologies, telecom and network communications and problem solving
- A telecommunication, electrical, or Information Technology degree/diploma from an accredited university or college
- A positive attitude coupled with a strong desire to solve technical challenges
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, network monitoring tools and reporting
- Experience with working in a team environment
- Strong inter-personal and speaking skills
