Maintenance Quality Assurance Inspector

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Quality Assurance Inspector to join our growing Quality team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), IOSA Standards, and company policies within our Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) and/or Commercial Air Service operations.
Reporting to the Manager/Quality Assurance, this role serves as a cornerstone of our regulatory compliance framework. The Maintenance Quality Assurance Inspector will work closely with Maintenance and Safety departments to proactively identify risks, close compliance gaps, and uphold the highest standards of airworthiness and safety culture. The position carries direct accountability for audit program execution, non-conformance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits in accordance with CAR 573.09 Quality Assurance Program requirements and the approved Annual Audit Schedule;
- Perform surveillance audits of maintenance activities, technical records, component releases, and maintenance releases to verify airworthiness compliance;
- Ensure organizational compliance with CAR 571, 573, 605, and applicable Part VII regulations governing maintenance and commercial air operations;
- Audit adherence to the Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM) and Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), including Roles and Responsibilities as defined therein;
- Identify, document, and classify non-conformances discovered during audit activities using the approved non-conformance reporting system;
- Lead or facilitate formal root cause analysis (RCA) investigations using structured methodologies (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis);
- Issue Corrective Action Requests (CARs) and Preventive Action Requests (PARs) and track implementation to closure within defined timelines;
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) through follow-up audits and objective evidence review;
- Support SMS activities including hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety assurance reviews within the maintenance domain;
- Prepare clear, well-structured audit reports and present findings, trends, and recommendations to senior management and Senior Management;
- Maintain the audit findings register and produce monthly/quarterly QA performance metrics and KPI dashboards;
- Liaise directly with Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) inspectors during oversight visits, surveillance audits, and formal IOSA renewal inspections;
- Monitor and audit subcontracted AMOs, avionics shops, and component maintenance vendors for ongoing regulatory compliance and contract adherence.
Qualifications
- Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License — M1 and/or M2 category rating preferred;
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on aircraft maintenance experience in a Transport Canada regulated environment
- Experience in a Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or regulatory auditing role within aviation is an asset;
- Familiarity with electronic maintenance tracking and quality management systems;
- Experience with IOSA audit preparation, desk-top reviews, or on-site facilitation;
- Experience in continuous airworthiness or technical services in a multi-fleet environment.
- This position is located at Edmonton International Airport. There is travel required for this role. A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally is essential.
