About the role

Consumer Credit Adjudicator (Permanent Full-time)

Location: Peterborough, ON (Hybrid Work Arrangement - Requiring at least 2 days/week on-site)

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Rate of Pay: Dependent on experience

As a Consumer Credit Adjudicator, you will:

  • Adjudicate all credit applications by ensuring they are:
    • Properly, accurately and completely investigated
    • Within credit standards and company policy and procedure
    • Analyzed and recommended and/or approved
  • Ensure prompt and timely adjudication of credit applications.
  • Consistently exercise good credit judgment in approving and declining credit applications within established limits.
  • In co-operation with the appropriate Manager, ensure all consumer lending staff (lenders and collectors), throughout the credit union are well-trained, knowledgeable and professional.
  • Recommend consumer lending policies and procedures, in compliance with by-laws, legislation, lending licenses and sound business practices while developing a secure and profitable consumer loan portfolio.
  • Specialize in consumer lending (loan/mortgage) functions at an advanced level with a lending limit commensurate with experience.

Qualifications Required:

  • 5 years lending experience
  • 2 years credit adjudication experience preferred
  • Expert and up-to-date knowledge of:
    o Credit Union products and services, loan policies, lending procedures, credit granting criteria and the documentation for credit products.
    o Legislation and case law relevant to consumer lending.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including listening, oral and written skills
  • Ability to be decisive and firm, while demonstrating empathy
  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment, for the benefit of both the Credit Union and members
  • Ability to communicate professional and sensitively with lawyers, tax accountants and members in difficult situations is essential
  • Ability to be thorough, accurate and attend to detail
