NATURE OF WORK

Under the supervision of the Coordinator of School Support – Southern Sector at Information & Technologies services, the principal role of this position is to help the pedagogical sector of the schools in the community of Waswanipi to maximize the computer integration within the classroom environment. An additional customary work of this employee in this class of employment consists in installing and supporting in-house or commercial applications, managing the networks, fixing highly complicated problems for computer users (teachers and students) of the three schools in Waswanipi. Finally, this employee will also help the rest of the I.T. team in supporting locally and remotely the installed computer base of the Cree School Board.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

Tests or modifies applications in order to meet the specific needs of users more specifically at the pedagogical but also at the administrative level;

Manages, installs and configures systems components, and tests, modifies and upgrades computer networks according to the procedures established by the I.T. Services;

Acts as a resource person for the highly complicated maintenance of equipment’s and software, particularly with regard to the installation and configuration;

Develops and oversees the application of various procedures related to the use of networks and equipments, particularly those concerning backup copies, deletion of obsolete files and equipment maintenance as well as the maintenance of network user accounts in accordance to the Internet, Email and Use of Network Resources Policy in place at the Cree school Board;

Drafts instructions for software and applications and participates in the training of users and supports them in order to maximize their use;

Formulate suggestions and proposes recommendations concerning the purchase of computer equipment in accordance to the standards in place established by the Director of Information & technologies;

Assists, if needed, in the development and implementation of computer systems,

Participates, in various computer-related works in cooperation with the other members of the information & technologies services;

Insures proper operation of telephone equipments throughout the administrative offices and schools, check for telecommunication devices changes, phone extensions, etc…

If need be, performs any other related duty.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Hold a diploma of college studies in computer science technology (specialty in computer integration in the classroom would be an asset) or a diploma or an attestation/certificate of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.

4 years of relevant experience.

Bilingual in French and English.

Cree language would be an asset.

Available to travel.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Temporary, full-time position for one year.

35 hours/week.
