Vulnerability Management Consultant
About the role
Pay Range: CAD 55-60/hr
We are seeking a Senior IT Operations Analyst (6–8 years experience) specializing in Vulnerability Management and Remediation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, prioritizing, and remediating security vulnerabilities across server environments, while leveraging automation tools such as Ansible to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk exposure.
Key Responsibilities
Vulnerability Management & Remediation Perform end-to-end vulnerability management lifecycle including identification, triage, prioritization, and remediation tracking Conduct risk-based vulnerability assessments (CVSS, business impact, threat exposure) to prioritize remediation activities Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure timely closure of vulnerabilities within defined SLAs Perform false positive analysis, validation, and exception handling Triage & Risk Assessment Analyze vulnerability scan results and perform triage based on exploitability and business impact Maintain dashboards/reports for vulnerability tracking, risk posture, and remediation progress Support audits, compliance requirements, and governance processes Server & Patch Management Manage and execute patching activities for OS and middleware (Windows/Linux environments) Ensure systems are up to date with security patches and hardening standards Monitor patch compliance and remediate non-compliant systems Automation & Ansible Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation workflows Automate patching, configuration management, and vulnerability remediation tasks Integrate automation with enterprise tools (e.g., ServiceNow, CI/CD pipelines where applicable) Continuously improve operational efficiency through automation Operational Support Provide L2/L3 support for vulnerability remediation issues across server infrastructure Collaborate with cross-functional teams for incident resolution and root cause analysis Maintain documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base for vulnerability and remediation processes
Required Skills & Experience
Experience 6–8 years of experience in: IT Operations / Infrastructure / Security Vulnerability Management & Remediation Server administration (Windows/Linux) Technical Skills Strong expertise in: Vulnerability tools (e.g., Qualys, Nessus, Rapid7) Vulnerability triage and remediation lifecycle ] Patch management (OS, middleware, and applications) Hands-on experience with: Ansible (playbook development, automation) Scripting (Shell, Python, or PowerShell preferred) Good understanding of: CVE / CVSS scoring and risk frameworks ITIL processes and SLA-driven environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud or hybrid environments (Azure/AWS/VMware) Knowledge of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, etc.)
Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
Exposure to DevOps pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices
