Product Compliance Specialist
About the role
Reporting to the Risk and Compliance Manager, the Product Compliance Specialist (PCS) ensures the organization follows regulations related to the design, manufacture, packaging, and sale of our products. The PCS is responsible for researching and navigating complex product regulations and standards. They are expected to identify gaps in compliance, develop strategies to address these gaps effectively, and maintain machine technical files verifying that risks have been adequately addressed. The PCS collaborates with suppliers, industry experts, product engineers/designers and other company departments to ensure safety and environmental compliance verification procedures are followed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research global industry standards and regulatory concerns regarding new/revised products and markets and communicate the findings.
- Participate in risk assessments, functional safety reviews and FMEA.
- Audit existing labels and manuals to ensure accurate safety and environmental language.
- Assist with new product reviews and provide feedback to design teams regarding compliance requirements.
- Assist with the development of internal design standards.
- Assist with managing product material reporting requirements.
- Assist with product testing and documentation to maintain records of product conformity.
- Develop processes and suggest techniques to improve product compliance and minimize risks.
- Develop and maintain engineering procedures and training to aid with the onboarding of new employees.
- Project tools: MS Office, SharePoint, SolidWorks, DraftSight.
Qualifications Required:
- Mechanical engineering, eligible for CET or P.Eng.
- Understanding of machine design fundamentals, detailed calculations, simulations.
- 3D modeling using SolidWorks/DraftSight an asset.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety and FMEA an asset.
- Exceptional inter-personal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage complex projects with competing priorities.
