Accounts Receivables and Payables within Finance is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Senior Analyst.
Reporting to the Associate Director Commerce, Receivables, and Payables this position provides expertise in the review and assessment of financial operations accounting transactions to ensure compliance with supporting agreements, as well as with university policies and external reporting standards. This role plays a key collaborative role in the provision of integrative expertise with regards to facilitating a cross functional understanding of transactional impacts and is expected to proactively develop and maintain collaborative, productive, problem-solving working relationships with colleagues, staff, and management.
This role will perform in an environment where there is the potential for ambiguity and periods of high volume-time sensitive review, and will be required to have strong organizational and analytical skills.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Accounts Receivable Trade
- Manage deposit and invoice transactions to ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Ensure invoice and deposit submissions are compliant with public sector accounting standards, university guidelines, and external agency contracts.
- Review and interpret external agency contracts and guidelines.
- Advise regarding transaction propriety and facilitate issue resolution.
- Prepare month end journal entries and reports to facilitate the monthly period closure.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation to identify any issue and coordinate with staff and other departments on the resolution of issues.
- Coordinate the universities collection of outstanding invoices and work with the various teams to Conduct appropriate review and write offs as necessary.
- Review and approve bot and staff generated invoices.
Accounts Receivable Student
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation to identify any issue and coordinate with staff and other departments on the resolution of issues.
- Monitor third party invoicing procedures and work with staff to resolve issue as they arise.
- Coordinate collection activities with the 3rd party collection company.
- Preparation of monthly power bi reporting and analysis.
- Review staff's preparation of student refunds and approve.
Accounts Payable
- Review balance sheet account to identify any issue and coordinate with staff and other departments on the resolution of issues.
- Manage employee expense submissions for compliance with the University Travel and Expense handbook and Employee-Contractor relationship guidelines.
- Advise regarding transaction propriety and facilitate issue resolution.
Position Management
- Manage the creation, activation, and/or modification of positions and position- related data to ensure data integrity and budget controls.
- Advise and collaborate to provide issue management support with regards to the integration of position funding, budget, and human resource specific data to maintain.
- Compliance with position management principles and guidelines.
Process Improvement and Decision Support
- Research, review, advise and recommend regarding resolution of unique issues and projects as they relate to financial operations accounting transactions and compliance review activities.
- Remain current on factors that would initiate change, such as University policies and procedures.
- Assess current procedures and processes for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Review, recommend, and implement required updates to procedures, reporting, and compliance assessment standards.
- Respond to stakeholder requests for information and/or issue mitigation and resolution.
- Provide operational expertise to the Financial Operations portfolio on accounting related issues.
- Contribute to an environment that fosters quality improvement.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Completion of a Professional Accounting designation (CPA) with related degree.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential for productive and collegial working relationships as well as in the exercise of tact and diplomacy with sensitive issues.
- Significant work experience in various accounting and analyst functions.
- Proficient to expert level use of computer software applications including Excel, PeopleSoft (navigation and query), data warehousing and other business intelligence query tools.
- Experience with business analysis and able to provide recommendations and implementation support.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and support the development of junior team members.
- Demonstrates innovative thinking and develop creative solutions to problem-solving.
- Strategic mindset with strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities.
- Sound judgment and effective decision-making in complex situations.
- Track record of influencing others and driving positive change across teams or organizations.
