About the Role
Global Furniture Group is a major office furniture manufacturer headquartered in the Toronto area. Our Data and Analytics team turns operational data from across the business into reporting and insight that supports sales, finance, and operations.
We are looking for a Junior Data Analyst to gather requirements, design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions, and to help the business make decisions grounded in accurate, well structured data. Beyond building reports, you will be expected to understand the data well enough to spot issues, answer questions, and improve how we use our information.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports, and perform data and process analysis as required. Define requirements with stakeholders, then build models and analyses that support data driven decisions and recommendations. Connect data from multiple sources to uncover insight that informs critical business decisions. Partner with the IT team to establish and maintain the infrastructure that advances our business intelligence efforts. Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques. Acquire data from primary and secondary sources and maintain the underlying databases. Review reports, extracts, and performance indicators to filter and clean data and confirm accuracy. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor degree or diploma in analytics, computer science, statistics, business, or a related field. Working knowledge of data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques. Experience with reporting tools, databases, and at least one programming or scripting language. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present large amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong Excel skills. Basic SQL, with some VBA an asset. Foundational statistics, including standard deviation, correlation, and distributions. Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain findings to non technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Python for data processing and automation
Experience with Pyramid Analytics, or a comparable business intelligence platform such as Power BI or Tableau Exposure to IBM AS400 or DB2, or a similar ERP data environment Familiarity with CRM data, for example OnContact Prior experience supporting finance or sales reporting
What Success Looks Like
In the first few months you will become comfortable with our reporting environment, take ownership of recurring report cycles, and begin proposing improvements that save time and increase accuracy. Over time you will grow into a trusted analyst the business relies on for clear, accurate, and timely information, with room to deepen your skills in Python automation and Pyramid Analytics as the team and our capabilities grow.
