About the FGCA

The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association (FGCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering

families from early learning through school-age care. We gratefully work and play on the unceded,

traditional territories of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees

Nations. As part of our childcare team, you’ll help nurture both the children and the land that sustain

our community.

Overall Position Objectives

The Child Care Float is not assigned to one specific program. The primary objective of the position is to

provide staff support during high-pressure periods, including (but not limited to) field trips, school

pickups, special events, staff breaks, early dismissals, and times of low staffing. When not supporting

immediate staffing pressures, the Float assists where needed. This may involve preparing snacks,

helping with transitions, setting up or cleaning program spaces, relieving a program assigned staff

member for narration or administrative time, or supporting planned activities. Adaptability and

flexibility are essential as the Child Care Float plays a key role in maintaining quality care and smooth

operations across all Fairfield childcare programs.
