Qualifications/Experience:

Be a BU student.
Be familiar with Microsoft suite, Generative AI such as Chat GPT, Teams and Zoom, and Workforce payroll system.
Have experience in crunching data using generative AI.
Be available for training.
Be able to work independently and report regularly (every two weeks) to a supervisor, on completed work and up to date accounting of worked hours, as well as entering hours in the BU Workforce system.
Be meticulous in keeping accurate and clear files that contain the analysis of historical files, in multiple formats, including word and excel.
Be able to work flexible hours, up to but not more than 10 hrs. per week.

Duties:

The student research assistant will support Drs. Harms and Petrella in analyzing digitized records of from the Hudson Bay Company Archive, using generative AI, to code and find trends. The project provides support to the Anisininew Okimawan Tribal Council, of the Island Lake Region of Northern Manitoba, who have tasked Drs. Harms and Petrella to aid them in the recovery of their histories, by delving into the records taken by Hudson Bay Company’s Trade Post Managers, 1700s to the present.
