About the role
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Manager, Health Services - Critical Care/Medicine Information Management System, the incumbent is responsible for:
- Data collection in an Intensive Care/Medicine Unit and following-up with the wards and medical records department at various sites in the Region.
- Regular remittance of collection forms to a central data entry bank.
- Handling quality assurance processes that are data collection based.
- Participation in system reliability/validity testing processes.
- Participation in regular team meetings.
- Assisting with the training of new staff and in servicing of Intensive Care/Medicine Unit staff.
- Participation in other research projects that are database program related.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years recent Adult Intensive Care Nursing experience, required.
- Background in research methodology preferred.
- Previous experience data collecting for large databases, preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
- Recognized Adult Intensive Care Nursing Course preferred.
- Basic statistics course, preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Highly motivated with very strong organizational skills.
- Meticulous and detail oriented.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Willingness to adapt to new ideas, concepts and changes.
- Ability to function as a team player, functioning independently, but cooperatively with all disciplines.
- Reliable and accountable.
- Basic computer skills required (i.e. knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of various common software applications including: spreadsheets, word processing and database programs, internet and e-mail applications).
