Medicine Hat Christian School is a Christian, Faith-based Alternative Program within Medicine Hat Public School Division

Educational Assistant A full time (30 hours) Educational Assistant is required to start for the 2025-2026 school year.

Preferred Required Preference will be given to the candidate who can assist teachers in implementing faith based learning in a variety of subject areas. A demonstrated commitment to Christian Education is required. The preferred candidate would be flexible and adaptable in working with students, teachers, staff, and administration in the following areas:

  • supervision duties (recess, classroom, lunch, etc).
  • assisting students and teachers in classrooms (individual students, small groups, whole group)
  • working in a team with teachers, staff, administration and outside support services
  • assisting and supporting students through individual support plans (including helping the teacher with documentation)
  • assisting and supporting students through behavioral support plans (including helping the teacher with documentation)
  • building strong relationships with students, helping students learn, and seeing the best in every student in an inclusive school setting
  • upholding the mission of the school which inspires spiritual, academic and personal growth through Christ centered learning.
  • upholding the vision of the school which is to raise up Christ-like leaders who use their gifts and abilities to impact their community.

Medicine Hat Christian School is a K-9 school with approximately 285 students. This position would be primarily working with elementary students and teachers, but the ability to work with junior high students is an asset.

About Peace Wapiti Public School Division

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 5,800 Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in 36 schools, including nine Hutterite colony schools, two outreach schools, an online school, and educational programming at a group home facility.

The system provides schooling for students from Horse Lake First Nation and Kelly Lake Indigenous Community. Excluding the colony schools, the smallest school has an enrollment of 34 students and the largest has 623 students. Alternative Education provides flexible programming to 95 students. In the smaller and more rural high schools, some reliance is placed on distance education programs to augment the basic in-school offerings. Specialty programs exist to meet local needs.

PWPSD employs the full-time equivalent of 375 teachers and 600 non-teaching staff, in addition to a number of part-time and casual personnel. The Transportation Department manages 100 bus routes.
