Reports to: Manager Financial Reporting

Location: 24 Napoleon Road, Barrie (hybrid)

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting with a dotted line to the Manager of FP&A, this position will provide a critical link between finance and sales. This role will also assist with sales compensation, financial reporting, and the quarterly forecasting. Ensuring consistent accounting principles and financial analysis is applied across all locations and divisions.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for monitoring and updating the chart of accounts, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness of the structure.
  • Supporting the creation of adhoc reporting within the ERP System.
  • Monthly and quarterly bank reporting.
  • Support the calculation of monthly, quarterly, and annual commission payouts. Looking for ways to streamline and improve the process.
  • Associate Credit Cards: payment and allocations monthly, main point of contact for financial questions (ie: increase to the credit limit, GL allocations, cancelling and issuing new credit cards.
  • Establish and maintain best practices across the global finance team. Focus on quality reporting, and consistent evolution of practices to further automate processes and drive efficiency.
  • Supporting Month-End Closing activities including accruals, reconciliation, foreign exchange analysis, tax reconciliations etc.
  • Reviewing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and variance reports for all companies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the monthly consolidation of all entities, including consolidation entries and reconciliation of intercompany.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting package for local entities and consolidated and executive presentations. Including the supporting variance analysis and adhoc analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze gross margin reports for the three core business groups, identifying any potential issues.
  • Support the external audit ensuring that reporting deadline is met including weekly status report to ensure no surprises and tracking of audit time.
  • Preparation of other reporting (StatsCan returns, schedules to support tax filings, etc.
  • Working closely with the Senior Management Team to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures.
  • Assist with adhoc analysis and special projects.

Education and Experience:

  • University Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics and/or Accounting & Finance.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a recognized Accounting/Finance Designation (CPA).
  • Minimum three (3) years progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing environment considered as a strong asset.
  • Computer Software Requirement: Proficiency in MS Office is desired with advanced experience of MS Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with an ERP System and Power BI is ideal.
  • Ability to understand plant processes and correlate with performance improvements initiatives.
  • Ability to identify problems, visualize and implement best solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills, including detail-oriented and focus on accuracy.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Process driven with experience documenting and continuously improving procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team-oriented approach.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Ability to understand plant processes and correlate with performance improvements.
  • Ability to translate complex financial information into simple and easy to understand concepts.
