Do you have a talent for crafting presentations and briefing materials in a way that makes technical information more accessible and understandable to non-technical audiences? This position provides a unique opportunity for a highly organized individual to proactively monitor issues, coalesce data and information and liaise across various levels and offices within the Ministry of Transportation. Working independently, with the support of Branch and divisional staff, in a role where no day is ever the same, you will create key communications materials for the Operations Division.
About the job
As a key player, you will:
- monitor emerging issues
- conduct analysis of contentious issues impacting the Provincial Highways Management Program
- respond to requests for information
- prepare briefing materials, presentations, reports and publications
- provide advice to senior management to define communications issues along with research and resolution strategies
- provide support to the branch management team by managing special projects.
What you bring to the team
Organizational and planning skills
You can:
- demonstrate well-developed planning and organizational skills
- adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a high pressured environment
Communication skills and knowledge
You have:
- well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy
- superior written communication skills along with knowledge of communications techniques and practices related to writing and editing materials
Analytical skills and issues management knowledge
You have:
- analytical and problem solving skills
- knowledge of issues management to research issues, identify potentially contentious issues, and to advise senior management
Technical knowledge
You have:
- knowledge of government structure, policy development and decision-making processes and legislative requirements
- knowledge and experience using a variety of computer software (i.e. spreadsheet, graphics, word processing, database and presentation applications)
