Driven by a philosophy of continuous improvement, transparent communication, and operational excellence, we pride ourselves on delivering top-tier service while upholding the highest standards of safety. We support our team members in getting "1% better" every single day, fostering a culture of accountability, focus, and clear strategic execution.

This role also coordinates safety programs between internal field crews and subcontractors. The Safety Officer acts as a subject matter expert and advisor to leadership and employees on safety-related matters.
*Responsibilities include but are not limited to: *
1. Field Inspections & Hazard Assessments
- Conduct frequent, unannounced site safety audits across all active construction and restoration projects to verify total compliance with the Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code.
- Review, audit, and provide training on Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and Hazard Assessments to ensure crews accurately evaluate daily shifting site conditions.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks specific to restoration work, including structural instability, hazardous materials (asbestos, mold, lead), biohazards, and confined space entries.
- Enforce strict compliance regarding mandatory PPE, specialized respiratory protective equipment, fall protection systems, and engineered safety controls.
2. Safety Management System, COR Maintenance & Training
- Maintain, update, and systematically improve the company's Health & Safety Manual and documentation framework to guarantee audit readiness for annual COR certification.
- Coordinate and act as the primary liaison on jobsites where the company is designated as the Prime Contractor, managing safety coordination and policy alignment with external subcontractors.
- Conduct detailed safety orientations for all new staff and contractors following FG policies and procedures.
- Organize, track, and facilitate company-wide safety training initiatives, ensuring certifications (such as Fall Protection, Confined Space, WHMIS 2015, and Standard First Aid) remain 100% current for all personnel.
- Develop and distribute high-impact safety alerts, corporate safety policies, and localized "toolbox talks" to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead and present safety talks and training and facilitate the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) chairs and meetings.
3. Incident Investigation, Reporting & WCB Claims Management
- Lead immediate root-cause investigations for all workplace incidents, vehicle accidents, equipment damage, and critical near-misses.
- Compile and report safety performance statistics such as weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports on safety performance measures and safety concerns.
- Prepare and submit Potentially Serious Incident (PSI) reports and legally reportable injury documentation to Alberta OHS within mandat
