Licensed Log Scaler
Lumby, British Columbia
Our Log Scalers plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and value of our fibre supply. If you have between 2-5 years experience as a licensed Log Scaler, we'd like to hear from you!
We’re looking for a Licensed Log Scaler to join our White Valley Division located in Lumby, British Columbia. White Valley produces the veneer used at our Armstrong Plywood facility. White Valley safely and sustainably produces 225,000 million square feet of veneer every year for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

Able to provide proof of valid scaling ticket.

Minimum 2-5 years of scaling experience, preferably in a lumber manufacturing environment.

A strong commitment to safety, quality, lumber recovery, and production efficiency.
-
Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Ability to work a variety of shifts depending on logging seasonality.
-
Ability to operate a variety of mobile equipment is considered an asset.
-
Familiarity with Microsoft based programs is consider an asset.

In this role you will:

Measure, grade, and record log volumes and quality using approved scaling methods, tools, and technology to ensure accurate fibre valuation and inventory control.

Ensure accuracy while stratifying and scaling to both company and Ministry standards.
-
Collaborate with operations, logging contractors, and mill personnel.
-
Communicate log quality issues, support production planning, and promote continuous improvement
-
Maintain accurate records and data entry to support reporting, billing, and operational decision‑making.
-
Promote a culture of safety by ensuring work is performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
-
Ensure risks are identified and mitigated.
-
