The Ministry of Community Safety - Provincial Protective Services Branch is committed to the protection of the people, natural resources, and infrastructure within the province of Saskatchewan.
The Provincial Protective Services Branch (PPS) combines a variety of protective and investigative services including conservation officers, highway patrol traffic officers, investigators from the Safer Community and Neighbourhoods program, Community Safety Officers responsible for security for the Wascana Centre, Sheriff Services officers that provide security for courts and conduct prisoner transport plus several other related protection and investigational services. We are seeking an IM/IT professional to join us as a Senior Configuration Analyst to support a number of IT applications used within the branch and the Gang Violence Reduction Strategy.
The Senior Configuration Analyst is a member of the Security Intelligence Unit, responsible for providing business services to the unit and its partners. The work focuses its attention on the development, management and support of IM/IT systems that enhance the client's ability to meet their unique business needs and objectives.
In this challenging and exciting position, the Senior Configuration Analyst acts as a change agent that provides a lead role in business improvement activities to ensure client expectations, requirements, and government priorities are met. Specific responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to understand, document and evaluate business requirements;
- Performing system administration, such as set up, maintaining security roles and functions of the applications, and adding and removing user access;
- Leading and managing changes to business processes and computer applications;
- Conducting feasibility studies and developing business cases that review existing services or processes, determining future business needs or opportunities and recommending strategies that satisfy client needs and objectives;
- Assisting clients in gathering business requirements and preparing requirement documents;
- Monitoring current, new, and emerging services; and
- Evaluating industry trends and analyzing similar service offerings in other jurisdictions to identify opportunities and develop strategies for continued business/service improvement.
Finally, this position will lead and manage numerous complicated projects (5 to 7 concurrently) and is responsible for project success from initiation stages through requirements, planning, designing, building, testing, piloting and successful transition to operations within the ministry.
Candidates will have extensive knowledge and competence with SharePoint 365, knowledge of intelligence. Knowledge in the following would be preferred:
- Versaterm (RMS);
- AXON and Watchguard (in car/body worn video);
- ALPR (automatic license Plate Reader);
- PPSTN (Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network);
- Scheduling/Logistics systems; and
- Inventory/tracking systems.
Knowledge of business needs analysis/business process improvement methodologies, tools and processes and an understanding of project management methodologies and process will significantly contribute to one's success in this position.
Candidates will obtain the knowledge and abilities required for this position through a post-secondary degree in an information technology-related discipline (Computer Science, Commerce, or Business Administration) and a minimum of two years experience working in an intelligence environment.
Candidates must clearly identify in their cover letter and resume where they have gained the knowledge and experience required for this position. Candidates must be prepared to work outside normal business hours and may need to occasionally travel within the province.
