About The Position Responsible for developing, validating, and optimizing instrumental methods, with a primary focus on ICP-OES, while supporting production chemistry to ensure high-quality analytical results, efficient laboratory output, and safe work practices in accordance with ALS standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and validate ICP-OES and other instrumental methods.
- Perform ICP digestions, analysis, and data review in accordance with QA/QC requirements.
- Operate, maintain, and assist with troubleshooting laboratory instrumentation.
- Prepare and evaluate reagents, standards, and solutions.
- Identify and report quality, equipment, or sample issues and support corrective actions.
- Complete required documentation, including analytical records, logs, and equipment records.
- Support workload demands and turnaround-time commitments by assisting team members as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment and follow ALS Health and Safety policies.
- Participate in safety reporting and incident investigations, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of ICP-OES theory, operation, and method development.
- Knowledge of method validation, verification, and QA/QC practices.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Science required; Analytical Chemistry preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a commercial laboratory.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity.

- An estimated hourly pay of $31.26 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
