Who We Are The Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. Job Description St. Jude Elementary , a vibrant and welcoming Catholic elementary school community in East Vancouver, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Primary Educational Assistant to fill a short-term, Full-Time position from January to June 2026 with the possibility of extension. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, a commitment to working with neurodiverse children, and a passion for helping students succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher and Learning Resource Teacher by,
- Providing classroom support to students with varying levels of need both one on one and in small groups
- Supervising and supporting students during independent work and group activities
- Helping to implement individualized education plans for students
- Tracking learning goals related to the individualized education plan
- Participating in Grade-level meetings with the classroom teacher and Learning Resource Teacher
- Attending and participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required
- Interacting professionally and discretely with students, parents, and other staff
Qualifications
- Certification in education or related field is preferred
- Experience working with children with neurodiverse abilities is preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Practicing Catholic applicants are preferred

The Catholic Independent Schools of Vancouver Archdiocese are group one independent schools, receiving 50% operational funding from the ministry of education. All schools teach the prescribed ministry of education curriculum. Teachers are paid according to the qualifications and years of experience. Teachers are also eligible for the Group Benefits Program that provides medical, dental, other extended health benefits, plus a defined contribution (DC) Group Pension Plan.
