About the role
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics & Business Insights, the analyst will be responsible for interpreting data into consumable business insights and providing recommendations to the business. They will perform advanced reporting/business analysis and upgrading/migrating reporting to new and more efficient technologies. They will be responsible for the regular running, verifying and delivery of standard reporting, as well as being the primary provider of analytical information to members of senior management. They will work with all areas of the business to provide analysis and present recommendations to assist with new initiatives, day to day business, or to solve pressing business problems.
- Support the business with an analytical service offering.
- Perform data analysis to support ad-hoc requests.
- Resolve data issues and report inconsistencies.
- Convert data into business insights and recommendations.
- Use data visualization techniques where possible for quicker insight & improved user experience.
- Create unified datasets to support business needs by connecting and transforming data from different sources.
- Design data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights.
- Create and maintain dashboards and interactive visual reports using Power BI.
- Support of any departmental teams with analysis and consultation for their new initiatives, day to day business and problem solving.
- Continuously improve and upgrade current reporting/process quality by developing and identifying enhancements and migrating/developing reports using the most appropriate technology available.
- Continuously improve and upgrade on the team’s internal processes, including documentation of code and operating procedures, ease of storing/retrieving/sharing knowledge, identifying and eliminating waste, etc.
What you bring
- 2+ years of experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, ThoughtSpot.
- 2+ years of experience in SQL, Power Query, Knime, Synapse or other similar data modeling tools.
- 2+ years of experience in A/B testing or hypothesis testing with the primary focus to provide decision support, project validation and data insights into key business metrics.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform would an asset.
- Ability to translate technical processes into business language.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding how to best leverage data to improve business process.
- Ability to formulate or quickly understand business problems, find patterns and insights within structured and unstructured data.
- Ability to clearly communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
- Have a good eye for and an understanding of visual report design principles.
- Ability to execute multiple projects and drive key business results under tight deadlines.
- Self-starter attitude with willingness to learn and master new technologies.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
