Job Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This role will be based out of our Stoney Creek, Ontario location but will need to travel and support customers in Atlantic Canada as required.
Responsible for building new business relationships in the defined territory of Atlantic Canada as well as expanding business opportunities with an existing customer base. Candidate will be required to engage in the full sales cycle, from identifying opportunities to technical support of supplied product. Works closely with customers to provide technical solutions, improve overall equipment reliability and satisfy customer needs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify and secure sales opportunities for all products and/or services offered by John Crane (reporting to the Hamilton, Ontario office).

Develop and maintain strong customer relationships across both end users and channel partners within a defined territory (including OEM’s, pump rebuild shops, and distributors).

Utilize CRM software to manage customer relationships throughout the entire sales cycle; this includes managing leads, opportunities, orders, pipelines, and account plans.

Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand John Crane market share.

Identify and maintain a strong relationship with prospect/customer influencers and decision makers.

Travel to and throughout the assigned territory to visit customers, perform site visits, and support sales activities, including occasional travel and overnight stays as required, primarily to the Atlantic provinces.

Independently plan and manage daily/ weekly activities to balance customer engagement, travel, and administrative duties.

Collaborate closely with John Crane technical and engineering teams to proactively provide customers with reliability improvement solutions.

Supervise, inspect, and troubleshoot applications, installations, modifications, and commissioning of the entire John Crane product portfolio (as required).

Provide technical training for clients on products and services offered.

Collects and evaluates customer seal install base, reporting these findings using John Crane reliability management software.

Conduct equipment surveys, troubleshooting, and failure analysis as required.

Prepare technical reports and proposals for customer solutions and inventory optimization.

Communicate professionally with customers, company personnel, and vendors to provide quotes, recommendations, and technical assistance.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary to support customer needs or as assigned by the Regional Sales Manager.

Collaborate with the Stoney Creek, Ontario office for internal alignment.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical preferred), or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant technical sales experience.
- Experience in rotating equipment, pumps, seals, bearings, or related industrial sectors is preferred.
- Previous experience managing a large geographic territory or working with remote clients and distributors is an asset.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with customers at all levels.
- Balance of technical aptitude and commercial acumen—able to discuss both product features and business value.
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to present information in front of an audience.
- Well-developed problem solving and time management skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Existing network of contacts in the oil and gas / petrochemical industry would be an asset.
- Proven ability to plan and prioritize work effectively within a large geographic territory.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively throughout Eastern Canada (including occasional overnight stays).
- Ability to obtain safety certifications (H2S, WHMIS, First Aid, etc.) and site access requirements as needed.
- Drug and alcohol testing may be required for customer site access.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office, travel by land or air, customer sites, hotel room, board rooms, seal inspection bench.
- This position includes a monthly vehicle allowance, company-issued laptop and cell phone, and participation in a sales incentive plan.
Salary range: $72,000 — $91,000 CAD
