Dovre Canada is pleased to offer the following opportunity: Reservoir Development Specialist (or Reservoir Engineer / Petroleum Development Advisor/Specialist, Developments Manager) in St. John’s, NL
Function We are seeking a highly experienced professional with a strong background in offshore oil & gas to provide subsurface and field development expertise with a commercial focus. This individual will evaluate reservoirs from both technical and economic perspectives, participate in partner meetings with operating companies, and contribute to strategic decisions on development opportunities in offshore Newfoundland and similar environments.
The ideal candidate could be a Reservoir Engineer, Geologist, or Geophysicist with at least 5 years’ experience (preferably 10+), though we welcome interest from senior professionals or retired consultants with extensive industry knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform economic evaluations of reservoirs, integrating technical subsurface understanding with commercial insights.
- Provide technical and commercial input during partner and joint venture meetings with operators and other stakeholders, for existing or new developments.
- Analyze reservoir performance data, field development options, and recovery strategies.
- Utilize Excel-based economic models to assess project value, sensitivity, and risk as part of corporate processes and on an adhoc basis. Experience with Power BI considered an asset.
- Contribute to development planning, project screening, and investment decisions.
- Prepare concise, decision-focused reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a bridge between technical teams (geoscience, engineering) and commercial/management teams.
Requirements Qualifications
- Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience; preference for 10+ years, including offshore reservoir evaluation.
- Strong understanding of offshore Newfoundland geology or similar offshore petroleum basins.
- Demonstrated expertise in reservoir economics, reserves assessment, and field development planning.
- Proficiency in Excel (economic models, scenario analysis, sensitivities).
- Proven ability to multi-task, work independently, and deliver actionable insights under time pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to represent the company in partner/operator meetings.
