Job Description:
Accountabilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for serving men with concurrent disorders at our Live in Treatment Program in Glencairn, Ontario:
- Primary Counsellor role
- Group Facilitation
- Teaching Classes
- One-on-one Counselling
- Development of treatment plans based on client-centred recovery goals
- Maintain client files according to agency standards
- Liaison with outside agencies as required
- Crisis/Conflict Intervention
- Discharge Planning
- After-care Follow-up
- Team Consultation and Decision-Making
- Case Management skills
- Participation in individual and team clinical supervision
- Weekend work and/or evening work may be required
- On Call responsibilities approximately one week per month
- Reliable transportation to work- no public transit

education and experience Qualifications:
- Minimum undergraduate degree from a recognized institution (in one of the human services professions)
- Registration in a professional college an asset
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the addiction/mental health sector
- Thorough knowledge of evidence-based concurrent disorder counseling interventions / treatment models, including CBT, Relapse Prevention and Trauma Informed Practice
- Experience working with men involved in the criminal justice system
- Cultural awareness practices
- Professional documentation according to agency and regulatory college standards
- The ability to work individually and as part of a team
- The ability to work collaboratively with community partners
- Competence with data management systems, particularly EMHware
- A successful vulnerable sector screening need to be provided
Training and experience in the following areas:
- First Aid/CPR
- Crisis/conflict management
- Pharmacology relating to addictions and mental health
- Discharge planning
- Homelessness
- Spiritual care and practice in the context of mental health and addiction recovery
Skills and Capabilities:
- Has excellent communication skills
- Has an appreciation for diversity
- Possesses good judgment and problem-solving skills
- Is committed to professional development
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $48,964.51 to $61,205.63 with a maximum of $73,446.76.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
