Senior Engineer, Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability
About the role
SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Engineer, Instrumentation & Electrical Reliability will optimize the life cycle of corporate assets to ensure safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers. This includes using asset management and integrity and reliability management principles to optimize life cycle asset plans, preparing projects for engineering teams, and supporting existing assets.
Position Details
- Non-union. This position is permanent full time.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and maintain programs to optimize life cycle asset plans that meet internal business demands while complying with relevant codes, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and review technical and maintenance standards to be applied to new and existing assets.
- Plan complex execution-ready projects for engineering teams, developing conceptual budgets, while ensuring clear and concise scoping.
- Perform advanced risk assessment and apply risk-based decision making to integrity challenges.
- Demonstrate asset performance standards and provide effective decision-making tools for upper management using real-time key performance indicators.
- Working with the operations team, support existing system assets to ensure integrity and reliability.
- Analyze asset performance data and identify reliability issues before they materialize.
- Key asset areas for this department include cathodic protection systems, controls system, measurement and instrumentation systems, and electrical systems.
- Facilitate technical discussions across engineering and operations to support field staff and asset integrity and reliability.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to EIT’s and other engineers in department.
- Represent the company on industry technical committees.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Metallurgical, Petroleum, Electrical, Automation & Controls).
- Professional Engineering Designation registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
- Eight (8) years of relevant progressive engineering experience.
- Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
- Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
- Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters, is required on occasion.
- A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
- The job is safety sensitive, and as such, is subject to the provisions of the Drug and Alcohol Policy (Pre-Employment or Pre-Placement for Safety Sensitive Positions).
