Position Title: Bartender

Department: Food and Beverage

Reports to: Manager, Food and Beverage or designate

Job Summary: Bartenders are be responsible for preparing and serving beverages in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. This role is expected to know standard drink recipes and be able to mix them quickly and accurately while adapting to individual guest preferences. It is a critical role in ensuring responsible alcohol service, guest safety, and creating a welcoming, positive atmosphere for all patrons. This position may require flexibility to assist in other areas of food and beverage operations as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes or customer specifications
  • Greet guests with a friendly and professional demeanor, ensuring a high level of service at all times
  • Take beverage orders, serve drinks promptly, and process payments accurately
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including wiping counters, cleaning bar tools, and washing glassware
  • Arrange bottles and barware neatly and ensure the bar is well-stocked at all times
  • Clean up after guests and reset bar area for the next service period
  • Prepare garnishes such as slicing fruit for drinks
  • Set up and close down bar areas according to established procedures
  • Complete all required daily log sheets and checklists accurately
  • Remove empty bottles, replace beer kegs, and dispose of waste following proper safety procedures
  • Assist with basic food service if required based on business volume or staffing needs
  • Required to determine when a customer has had too much alcohol, stop serving and ensure a safe ride home is arranged.
  • Support other departments as needed, depending on operational demands
  • Attend all required pre-season and in-season training

Key Qualifications:

  • Smart Serve Certification (required)
  • Previous serving or hospitality experience (asset)
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate (REG 493) is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Able to handle high-pressure and fast-paced environments with professionalism
  • Comfortable with repetitive lifting (up to 45 lbs / 20.4 kg) and standing for long periods
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to providing outstanding guest service
  • Able to complete physically demanding duties as required
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

Additional Requirements:

  • Passionate about the recreation, hospitality, or food and beverage industry
  • Approachable, empathetic, and customer-focused
  • Must be flexible with scheduling – including evenings, weekends, holidays, and shift coverage
  • Must provide your own uniform in compliance with Chicopee’s uniform policy
