A short distance from Iskut and Dease Lake, Our fly-in, fly-out site offers access from various points across British Columbia and Alberta. Your Impact
As Advisor, Employee and Labor Relations (Fixed-Term) , you will play a key role in supporting a respectful, safe, and productive workplace at Newmont Red Chris Mine. You will provide expert guidance on labor relations matters, conduct investigations, and foster strong union-management relationships. Your work helps ensure fair practices, compliance, and an engaged workforce aligned with Newmont’s values.
This is an 18 to 24-month fixed-term position that offers a unique opportunity to lead impactful labour relations efforts, directly contributing to the success of development activities at Red Chris.
As Part of Our Team, You Will
- Champion a safety-first work culture by promoting principles and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on all labour relations matters, including grievance handling, conflict resolution, workplace investigations, and collective agreement interpretation.
- Foster strong Union-Management relations through regular engagement, joint meetings, and collaborative issue resolution to maintain a positive and respectful work environment.
- Support the development and implementation of labour relations strategies aligned with organizational goals while advocating for management rights in a constructive manner.
- Conduct objective, fact-based investigations, ensure accurate documentation, and deliver training to leaders on labour relations practices and compliance requirements.
- Uphold Newmont’s Code of Conduct by maintaining fair treatment practices, supporting collective bargaining efforts, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and labour laws.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
- Technical diploma or bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, human resources management, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in employee or labor relations within a unionized environment
- Hands-on experience supporting or participating in the collective bargaining process
- Strong understanding of local labor laws and collective agreement frameworks.
- High ethical standards and sound judgment to manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong negotiating and bargaining fundamentals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-awareness, collaboration, and the ability to build trust-based relationships.
- Ability to adapt, listen actively, and contribute to a positive team environment.
Your Work Environment
Location: Remote, with occasional travel to Red Chris Mine
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Contract Type: Fixed-term position (18 to 24 months)
