Job Summary Catapulta Contracting Inc. is urgently hiring Skilled Labourer to support residential construction and steel stud framing projects across Calgary. This role goes beyond general cleanup?you?ll operate tools and light equipment, assist carpenters and foremen with installs and layout, and help keep projects on schedule while maintaining top safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced site tasks: material handling/staging, accurate measurements, and support for framing and installs.
- Operate tools and light equipment safely: drills, impacts, saws, nailers, lasers, compactors, and lifts (with valid ticket).
- Assist with installs: backing/blocking, hardware, anchors, temporary bracing, basic demo, and minor repairs.
- Follow drawings, layout marks, and foreman instructions; complete tasks to spec and on time.
- Maintain safe, clean, organized work areas; set up barricades, signage, and housekeeping plans.
- Participate in daily safety talks; complete FLHAs, spot hazards, and report near-misses.
- Load/unload deliveries, verify counts, organize materials, and reduce waste.
- Support QA/QC: check plumb/level/square, fastener patterns, and basic firestopping as directed.
- Communicate clearly with crew leads and collaborate respectfully with teammates.
Requirements
- 1?2+ years of construction labour experience (framing/steel stud/renovation experience is an asset).
- WHMIS and CSTS certifications.
- Proficient with hand and power tools; quick to learn new equipment.
- Physically fit: lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
- Safety-first mindset, punctual, dependable, and professional.
- Valid driver?s licence and reliable vehicle (many sites are not near transit).
- Eligible to work in Alberta and available full-time, in person in Calgary.
- Basic tool pouch (hammer, tape, knife, square, pencil); PPE compliant (CSA boots, hard hat, eyewear, gloves).
*Assets *
- Fall Arrest, First Aid, and Aerial Work Platform (Scissor Lift/Boom) tickets.
- Experience with lasers, layout, anchors, and light equipment (e.g., plate compactor).
- Ability to read basic plans and follow layout marks.
- Renovation experience and coordination with multiple trades.
