Job Description The Capital Markets and Factor Investing Department

The Capital Markets and Factor Investing Department (CMF) invests assets globally in public equities, fixed income securities, currencies, commodities, and derivatives, and manages the engagement of investment managers and co-investments in public market securities.

The Systematic Strategies Group (SSG) group within the Capital Markets and Factor Investing department develops and manages systematic investment strategies across global markets spanning equities, fixed income, commodities, currencies, and volatility. SSG invests in absolute return strategies as well as long-only strategies, designed to provide a diversifying return stream to the total fund.

We are looking for a Sr. Intern Analyst within the Systematic Strategies Group in Toronto for Summer 2026 starting in May 2026.

What you’ll do

  • Support the team in running end-to-end research on systematic signals across multiple asset classes (rates, equities, currencies and commodities)
  • Build forecasting and monitoring tools that synthesize macro, market, and alternative datasets
  • Engineer robust data workflows. Translate academic research into model enhancements. Other duties as required

Qualifications A PhD student with strong empirical modeling/econometric skills. We prefer a student in the dissertation stage who would like to gain industry experience. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, exhibit creative problem-solving skills, and approach challenging assignments with enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a PhD degree with a specialization in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Math or related quantitative disciplines– preferably individuals in the dissertation stage of their program who would like to gain industry experience or are curious about the private sector.
  • Experience working with financial and/or economic data
  • Strong programming skills, preferably in Python and SQL.
  • Desire to gain exposure to practical research related to financial markets, portfolio management, portfolio construction and asset pricing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and ability to learn new concepts
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work in teams
