The location in Skookumchuck, British Columbia, Canada, is seeking talent to fill the position of Superintendent, Reliability. This job is full-time permanent.
Our Skookumchuck location has a current opening for a Reliability Superintendent. This position is accountable for the overall organization, planning, budget, and execution of the mill reliability program. Reliability Superintendent leads efforts to increase equipment and asset reliability, improve safety, and reduce operational costs by developing and implementing Excellence way reliability guidelines. They oversee reliability engineers and technicians, manage the asset reliability program, analyze performance data to identify and solve problems, and interface with operations, maintenance, and other teams to ensure seamless operations and asset life.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:
- They will lead area-specific improvement initiatives and determine actions, report decisions and update progress to the Maintenance Manager.
- The reliability superintendent will lead the Domtar’s “The Excellence way” approach for the overall all mill reliability needs
- The reliability superintendent will lead and oversee the reliability, shutdown coordination, rebuilds and preventive and predictive maintenance programs of the facility
- The Superintendent, in partnership with their operations counterpart, will establish priorities for failure analysis, issue resolution, and resource allocation. They will ensure alignment with maintenance plans and schedules.
- The Superintendent is responsible for reporting all safety and production-related incidents to the Management, along with the progress and outcomes of ongoing improvement efforts.
- They are expected to clearly communicate safety expectations, budgetary controls, planning and scheduling priorities, company policies, and contract management practices to supervisors and hourly staff.
- The Superintendent will assist the Maintenance Manager in developing and managing the annual maintenance budget, ensuring compliance within their assigned areas.
- They will oversee daily maintenance planning and execution, adherence to preventive maintenance schedules, coordination of effective area shutdowns, and long-term planning to protect and sustain mill assets.
- The Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that all reliability and maintenance activities comply with applicable regulatory standards and SKK programs and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A university degree in Engineering with at least five (5) years of experience in mill engineering, planning, or maintenance; or trades certification in one or more relevant trades with seven (7) years of experience as a journeyperson.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ supervisory experience in maintenance function, preferably in industrial environments such as manufacturing, mining, pulp and paper, or oil and gas.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and develop teams of tradespeople, supervisors and planners to achieve operational and safety goals.
- Adept at leading changes, driving team accountability, and promoting collaboration across departments
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, with a focus on building trust, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive, safety-first culture.
- In-depth knowledge of maintenance systems and best practices, including preventive and predictive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance.
- Proficiency with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, or similar systems.
- Solid understanding of equipment operations, repair methodologies, and root cause failure analysis.
Salary Range: 131,000-145,000
