The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) invites applications for sessional instructor positions in the School of Nursing – MScN Family Nurse Practitioner and Project/Thesis programs for the Spring 2026 semester. As an institution committed to the fostering of an inclusive and transformative learning environment, UNBC values high quality and growth in both teaching and scholarship.

Candidates with a minimum MScN, PhD preferred, are encouraged to apply. Current registration as a Practicing NP with the BCCNM is required for all clinical positions, and as an NP or RN is preferred for all other positions except as indicated. Teaching experience at the postsecondary level and/or evidence of instructional training is preferred. Related professional experience will be viewed favorably. Commitment to student-centred learning is considered important.

Theory courses in the MScN programs are taught online. Clinical supervision can be done from anywhere in B.C., while skills instruction takes place in person on the Prince George Campus and at other sites in Prince George.

NURS 720 – Practicum: Integrating Primary Health Care I

Theory and Clinical Co-Instructor – 5 SCH Contract

May 11, 2026 to August 21, 2026 | Theory is taught online, Fridays 9:00-12:30pm

NP Skills 1- On Campus Instructor – 1.5 SCH Contract (3 Positions)

This course enables students to consolidate and practice assessing, diagnosing, and managing physical and mental health/illness in adults, older adults, and their families. The focus is on the management of common episodic and chronic health conditions of individuals across the lifespan, within the context of family and community in northern primary health care settings. Emphasis is placed on health promotion and illness/injury prevention strategies and on chronic self-care management. Situations requiring physician referral and managing rapidly changing conditions are also addressed. This two-part course, which consists of on-site practice, seminars, and a clinical practicum, includes a structured clinical evaluation.

Salary The salary for Part-Time Sessional Instructors is determined on the basis of Semester Contact Hour (SCH) at a rate of $3,046.03 per SCH. Please refer to the link below to the UNBC Faculty Association Collective Agreement (Appendix 48C) for more compensation information:
