About Amii Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) is one of Canada’s three main institutes for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, our world-renowned researchers drive fundamental and applied research at the University of Alberta (and other academic institutions), training some of the world’s top scientific talent. About The Role The Machine Learning (ML) Educator with the Training Product Team supports the content development process to develop AI literacy programming for Canadian energy workers to succeed in the low-carbon economy.
Reporting to the Product Owner, Training, the ML Educator plays a vital role within the Training team, actively contributing to the execution of Amii’s business functions. This three-year term position is focused on enhancing learner experiences, ensuring content excellence, and supporting the overall success of the team by delivering high-quality, impactful AI and ML education.
The position focuses on achieving excellence in three main accountabilities:
- Learner Success
- Content Excellence
- Team Success
Key Responsibilities Required Skills / Expertise
- Collaborates with the Product Owner, Training, to evaluate educational needs and design targeted upskilling programs
- Creates and delivers training programs and workshops that comprehensively address both business and technical training needs
- Delivers and leads dynamic workshops, lectures, and full courses tailored to diverse audiences
- Acts as a trusted advisor and education facilitator, helping teams and clients identify how AI and ML tools can effectively address their business needs
- Supervises AICAP participants in the content development process; including the creation of assignments, instructional content, and scripts
- Works effectively with the Training team and other Amii teams to achieve shared goals and enhance cross-functional collaboration
- Contributes to the effective coordination and management of internal tools and resources, supporting both learner and team success
- Identifies problem-solving strategies while actively collaborating with team members
- Manages and oversees the timely completion of all deliverables
Qualifications
- Masters or Ph.D. in Machine Learning
- 3+ years applied AI experience
- Post Secondary Degree in Education or related field (nice to have)
- Experience with developing and delivering curriculum; designing effective learning exercises, illustrations of technical concepts, training and evaluation tools
- Experience working with AI in low carbon applications (nice to have)
- Must be comfortable speaking in public, being on camera, teaching groups of various sizes, and facilitating group activities
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet project deadlines
- Ability to communicate highly technical subject matter to a variety of audiences
- Proficient in eLearning systems
- Interest in and ability to test new educational tools and technologies
