Job Description

The Data Center Facilities Manager ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all data center infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. This role supports 24/7 uptime through strong maintenance practices, safety compliance, incident response, and team leadership. The manager oversees staff, vendors, budgeting, and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure meets business needs. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing mission-critical facilities.

  • Strong background in data center or industrial infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of HVAC, UPS, generators, LV/HV power distribution, controls, and liquid cooling.

  • Experience with Tier III data centers and high-density environments is an asset.

  • Understanding of energy efficiency and sustainability practices.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure

  • Highly organized, results-driven, and project-focused and a clear communicator across all organizational levels.

Job Responsibilities

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Oversee daily operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems (substations, UPS, switchgear, generators, HVAC, HDUs, controls) as well as general maintenance.
  • Ensure systems meet uptime, reliability, and performance targets.
  • Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Risk & Reliability Management

  • Maintain Tier III operational standards.
  • Implement emergency response, incident management, and change control processes.
  • Oversee commissioning, testing, and validation of new systems and upgrades.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian codes, environmental standards, and health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain industry certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute, ISO, LEED).
  • Lead safety programs, drills, audits, and inspections.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a team of critical facilities technicians.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and technical excellence.
  • Coordinate training and certification programs.

Vendor & Budget Oversight

  • Manage vendors, contracts, and SLAs.
  • Oversee capital planning, budgets, and cost optimization.
  • Balance performance, quality, and cost through effective negotiation.

Compensation

  • The expected base salary for this role starts at $110-130K annually CAD.
  • Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and market data for the region.
  • Total Compensation package may be inclusive of annual incentive bonus, and equity (long-term incentive)
