About the role

Does shipping technical solutions that offer value excite you?

Then Jobber might be the place for you! We’re looking for a Technical Program Manager to be part of our Technical Program Management team.

Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. We work with small home service businesses, like your local plumbers, painters, and landscapers, to transform the way service is delivered through technology. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers while providing an easy and professional customer experience. Running a small business today isn’t like it used to be—the way we consume and deliver service is changing rapidly, technology is evolving, and customers expect more. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want!

Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500 lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

The team

Just as Jobber empowers small businesses to succeed, our Systems Engineering teams empower Jobber employees with the tools, data, and systems they need to do their best work. The Technical Program Manager II (TPM II) will lead Trust Engineering projects which have cross-functional impact across the Jobber platform. You will drive the delivery of systems that protect Jobber's platform and users from abuse and malicious activity while enabling secure growth and innovation.

The Role:

Reporting to the Director, Technical Program Management, this Technical Program Manager sits at the intersection of engineering, security, product, and operations, driving initiatives in identity and authentication, account takeover prevention, risk orchestration, and trust observability. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance technical functionality, security requirements, performance, and maintainability. The TPM II will drive program outcomes, maintain clear roadmaps, and foster strong cross-functional relationships with stakeholders, including Engineering Managers, Risk Operations, Security, Product, Legal, Support, and GTM teams.

The Technical Program Manager will:

  • Take on the Product Owner role for the Trust Engineering team. Execute the product management workflow, including backlog management (defining requirements and acceptance criteria).
  • Be responsible for product vision and strategy. You will own the creative process of generating/discovering, developing, and curating new ideas. By understanding the connections between people’s day-to-day work, the overall company vision, and stakeholder needs, you can prioritize building what matters to achieve the company’s strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Be responsible for cross-functional program management. You will drive technical and non-technical deliverables through project planning and execution. Provide proactive transparency to stakeholders (scope, status, risks and timelines); and support teams to help ensure timely delivery of their scope, including addressing blockers or issues that may arise.
  • Prioritize for Impact: Utilize context, discovery, and data to identify and prioritize which high impact problems need solving in alignment with Jobber's growth and trust goals. Maintain a clear quarterly roadmap and curate a list of goals that will drive measurable impact.
  • Build a plan, implement it, and then measure success. You’ll be responsible for a timeline for the implementation of new ideas, defining the release process and coordinating all activities to get a project launched. Once implemented, you will measure that success, and keep stakeholders aware, so that your team can make iterative decisions based on results.
  • Drive Identity & Authentication initiatives. Jobber identity and authentication integration, and authentication flow modernization. Plan and execute a long term vision for authentication at Jobber.
  • Build Fraud Prevention capabilities. Drive projects that detect and prevent fraudulent trials, account takeovers, credential stuffing, spam, and abuse. Work with Risk Operations and Security teams to define detection rules, enforcement actions, and response workflows.
  • Establish Risk Orchestration Infrastructure. Enable consistent, automated trust decisions across the platform through centralized risk scoring and enforcement APIs.
  • Observability. Ensure proper dashboards, metrics, and audit trails that provide visibility into platform health, policy compliance, and fraud trends are in place.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Career experience as a Technical Program Manager or Product Manager, with a strong technical foundation, ideally with prior experience as a software engineer or in a hands-on technical role. A track record of building and shipping multiple products or technical solutions that have successfully delivered value.
  • Ownership of a product or large parts of an offering, and are comfortable leading cross-functional teams. You have built up a diversity of experience through having supported a number of different teams, products, platforms or companies across your career journey thus far.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms and understanding of SaaS business metrics that drive success.
  • Deployment planning and roadmap maintenance across multiple quarters and cross-functional teams.
  • Execution excellence. Creating insights is one thing - leading and driving execution is another. You are motivated by getting things across the finish line and have a solid track record of managing projects and multiple priorities at any given time.
  • Next level communication skills. Your written and verbal communication skills help articulate the voice of the customer and the needs of the business. An ability to effectively tailor messaging to the right audience, from executive-level through to your direct teams, is critical.
  • A shipping mindset. We don't believe in spending forever analyzing and debating. The best way to validate something is to ship it - so let's ship it, learn from the data we collect, and iterate.
  • A knack for the details, with an understanding of the big picture. In your role, the details matter, and help drive your team forward with a sense of direction and clarity.

It would be really great (but not a deal-breaker) if you had:

  • Understanding of identity and authentication systems, security architectures, and risk/trust detection mechanisms and strategies.

  • Experience with trust, fraud prevention, risk mitigation, or security programs.

  • Tools and Technologies: Experience with or ability to quickly learn tools similar to:

    • Identity and Authentication: Auth0, Okta, or similar identity platforms
    • Fraud Detection: Sardine, Sift, Forter, or similar fraud prevention platforms
    • Security Infrastructure: Cloudflare, WAF, bot protection, CAPTCHA systems
    • Analytics and Monitoring: DataDog, Splunk, or similar observability platforms

Compensation :

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and supportive of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $125,800, a midpoint of $147,900, and a maximum salary of $170,100, designed to reflect the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling. We design our compensation to reflect each new hire’s skills, experience, and the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop.

This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual’s current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth. Base salary is just one part of a total compensation package that will include equity rewards, annual stipends for health and wellness, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind.

Your professional growth matters to us too! You’ll have access to a dedicated talent development program that includes career coaching and opportunities for career development. We believe in transparency and open conversations about compensation. If you have any questions about our approach, we’re happy to discuss them throughout the hiring process!

What you can expect from Jobber:

  • A total compensation package that includes an extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums for both body and mind, retirement savings plan matching, and stock options.
  • A dedicated Talent Development team and access to coaching, learning, and leadership programs to help you grow your career, reach your goals, and unlock your full potential.
  • Support for all your breaks: from vacation to rest and recharge, your birthday off to celebrate, health days to support your physical and mental health, and parental leave top-ups to support your growing family.
  • A unique opportunity to build, grow, and leave your impact on a $400-billion industry that has no dominant player...yet.
  • To work with a group of people who are humble, supportive, and give a sh*t about our customers.

We believe that diverse teams perform better and that fostering an inclusive work environment is a key part of growing a successful team. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to working with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.
