As a Health and Safety Coordinator at Pomerleau Construction, your mission is clear: to protect lives, one protocol at a time. Working on large-scale construction projects - from $50 million to over $400 million - you'll ensure that health and safety on our sites and in our offices is not just a policy, but a way of life.

What you will do

  • Be the pioneer for site health and safety where the project teams look to you for guidance and compliance becomes second nature.

  • You are the leader as it relates to project specific standards, continuously promoting Pomerleau’s H&S standards, OH&S Acts, Regulations and Codes with your teammates and trade partners.

  • You are a key player from day one of project kickoffs; crafting plans, leading meetings, and spotting potential hazards through to project closeouts and team celebrations. You are a key member of the projects from start to finish.

  • Boots on the ground is your thing, getting active out on the job sites to conduct regular site inspections.

  • Lead the incident investigation processes for your project. Dissecting high-risk elements is what you do best, sharing the information with your Regional H&S Manager.

  • Prevention isn't just a program; it’s your way of life. You are the specialist when it comes to building an environment with a strong accident prevention foresight.

  • Be the first responder when an emergency strikes, orchestrating safety best practices when the unexpected strikes.

  • Share your passion for training, mentoring, and coaching your team on H&S best practices.

  • You compile statistics like no other, identifying patterns and paving the way for proactive improvements.

  • You will support with the upkeep of Pomerleau’s COR Standards in meticulously ensuring all COR elements are met and maintained on your job sites.

This role could be for you if you have

  • 3-5 years of hands-on Health & Safety experience in the construction industry.
  • An educational background in Occupational H&S, risk management or direct industry experience.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with Certification of Recognition (COR) and Safety Group (IHSA).
  • People management and relationship skills like no other.
  • Proven experience working with computer programs to track and monitor your project’s H&S.
  • NCSO designation is an asset
