Board of Directors - Volunteer Position
About the role
About STEM Fellowship
STEM Fellowship is a national, student-driven non-profit dedicated to empowering young people with the skills, networks, and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world. Through programs, events, and mentorship, we foster innovation, critical thinking, and inclusivity in STEM education.
Role of the Chair
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors. The Chair will guide STEM Fellowship through a period of internal change and organizational transition, bringing stability, clarity of direction, and strong governance. They will inspire confidence among stakeholders, keep the Board focused on long-term goals, and actively contribute to fundraising, advocacy, and external relations.
This volunteer role requires a high level of commitment beyond regular Board meetings, including organizational oversight, participation in strategic initiatives, and ongoing availability to support the organization. The Chair is elected to a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in the non-profit, education, or STEM sectors.
- Strong governance knowledge and ability to lead through change.
- Experience with partnership development, fundraising, and external representation.
- Integrity, accountability, professionalism, and inclusive leadership.

About STEM Fellowship
STEM Fellowship is a Canadian registered charity that connects and empowers young innovators under the principle of "crowdsourcing science" and taking advantage of the capabilities of young scientists living in the information age.
STEM Fellowship is a place for the first peer-reviewed scholarly publication of high school and university students’ research, as well as providing young scholars with additional resources such as challenges, scholarly writing competitions, mentorships, and many more opportunities to give young scientists chances to be recognized and advance in the STEM community.
We believe in the capabilities of youth, and cultivate their potential by fostering a community of driven, like-minded individuals engaging in scholarly discussion. We thereby enable students to learn collaboratively, express their passion and love for science, and expand the scope of human knowledge through scientific, multidisciplinary inquiry.
